Zahara™ Castle® – white floribunda bedding rose
Effortless to enjoy yet quietly elegant, Zahara™ Castle® offers a compact, bushy floribunda shrub that fits neatly into typical British front gardens and small borders. Its snow‑white blooms with a soft cream centre create a refined, cottage feel from late spring onwards, repeating well for a long flowering season without elaborate care. Medium maintenance needs suit busy gardeners who still want reliable colour and a fresh, peachy fragrance around the house. Own‑root plants settle securely and build a long‑lived, balanced framework in your soil, coping steadily even where wetter weather and stronger winds demand good anchoring. In the first year the plant concentrates on roots, in the second on shoots, and by the third it reveals its full ornamental display.

Reasoning
Front garden focal shrub
The upright, bushy habit and dense, glossy foliage create a tidy, well-shaped shrub that holds its form without intricate pruning, ideal beside a path or near the front door. Own-root growth builds a durable structure over time, supporting a long garden life for appearance-conscious beginners.
Low white bedding in small borders
As a compact floribunda bedding rose, it sits comfortably at 80–110 cm, giving a low, coherent line of white flowers without overwhelming smaller spaces. Repeating flushes bring dependable colour through the season, suiting those wanting manageable yet effective plantings for busy homeowners.
Classic cottage-style mixed border
The porcelain-white and cream flowers weave easily into cottage-style schemes with perennials such as lavender or threadleaf coreopsis, providing a gentle backdrop that links stronger colours together. The fresh, peachy scent adds subtle charm for visually-led, tradition-loving garden enthusiasts.
Around-the-house ornamental planting
Recommended spacings from 40–80 cm allow flexible use along house walls and paths, giving a structured yet soft edging that is straightforward to plan and maintain. Medium maintenance means occasional checks and light care keep the display attractive for time-pressed urban gardeners.
Small groups for family gardens
Planted in groups of 3–5, the uniform white effect delivers a calm, cohesive look that works well with brickwork, gravel or lawn. The bushy habit and limited thorniness make it practical in family settings where paths and play areas sit nearby, reassuring safety-conscious garden owners.
Foundation for long-term rose areas
Own-root plants gradually adapt to local soil and care, regenerating from the base if stems are damaged and avoiding graft-related issues, which supports a stable planting over many years. This makes Zahara™ Castle® a sound structural choice for patient, investment-minded rose collectors.
Containers and large patio planters
The compact size and upright growth suit larger containers of at least 40–50 litres, where enough compost depth supports root development and steady flowering. This allows renters and balcony users to enjoy a structured rose without creating permanent beds, appealing to flexible-space gardeners.
Exposed or open garden positions
Its balanced, bushy frame and own-root anchoring help the plant stand securely in more open spots where stronger winds and heavy rain are common, reducing the need for staking or constant intervention, which is reassuring for coastal or weather-exposed plot owners.
Styling ideas
Porcelain Pathway – Line a front path with evenly spaced Zahara™ Castle® for a low, white edging that stays compact and tidy – ideal for homeowners wanting simple structure and easy day-to-day care.
Cottage Companions – Combine with lavender and threadleaf coreopsis to echo traditional cottage borders, letting the white flowers knit varied perennials into a soft, romantic whole – perfect for lovers of classic charm.
Calm Courtyard – Plant in 50-litre terracotta pots flanking a seating area, relying on the upright habit and medium care needs for a composed, fragrant corner – suited to small-urban-space gardeners.
Soft Front Hedge – Use closer spacing to form a low, informal hedge that marks boundaries without feeling heavy, with repeat flowering keeping interest high – good for families wanting a gentle, child-friendly barrier.
Long-View Anchor – Place a trio at the end of a vista or lawn, where the pure white blooms and durable own-root framework give a long-term focal point – attractive for gardeners planning a lasting, structured layout.

Data
Name and registration
Floribunda shrub rose, compact bedding type; registered as POUlcas077, marketed as Zahara™ Castle® POUlcas077, part of the Castle® collection for garden and landscape use.
Origin and breeding
Bred in Denmark in 2021 by L. Pernille Olesen and Mogens Nyegaard Olesen of Poulsen Roser A/S; introduced around 2024 following registration in 2023 for ornamental garden planting.
Growth and structural characteristics
Upright, bushy shrub reaching 80–110 cm in height and 60–80 cm spread, with dense, dark green glossy foliage (RHS 147A) and relatively sparse prickles, suitable for beds and smaller gardens.
Flower morphology
Double, cup-shaped blooms with 26–39 petals, medium-sized at 1.5–2.75 inches, borne in clusters of 3–5 per stem; repeat-flowering with a strong second flush for extended seasonal display.
Colour data and phenology
White flowers with delicate cream to buttery-yellow tones at the centre; buds creamy-ivory, opening to porcelain white, with very good colour retention and a refined, uniform white effect at full bloom.
Fragrance and aroma
Medium-strength, clearly perceptible scent with a fresh, peachy character; primarily ornamental rather than for cutting, but effective for adding fragrance near paths, seating areas and entrances.
Hip characteristics
Produces rose hips only in small quantities, with very small diameters recorded; hips are not a major ornamental or wildlife feature and generally have limited garden design significance.
Resistance and winter hardiness
Rated to approximately –21 to –18 °C (USDA 6b, RHS H7, Swedish zone 3); exhibits moderate resistance to black spot, powdery mildew and rust, requiring occasional protection where disease pressure is high.
Horticultural recommendations
Suitable for bed and border use, small group plantings and low hedging; plant at 40–80 cm spacing depending on effect, using 4–5 plants per m² for massing, with medium maintenance needs and basic protection when required.
Zahara™ Castle® offers compact structure, repeat white flowering and gentle fragrance on a resilient own-root framework; consider it if you seek a reliable, long-lived rose that settles gracefully into everyday garden life.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”; it illustrates the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root cultivation in a tangible way: how the plant is built up, what the root system is like and how the shoot system regenerates. The recordings were therefore made at different times and with plants at various stages of development, so mixed foliage levels and differing stages of growth may appear in the videos. They are not a ‘sample’ of the batch dispatched, but a visual explanation of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical for the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown in the upper part of the product page.
