PAUL CÉZANNE ® – yellow-pink bedding shrub rose – Delbard

This painterly Delbard shrub rose brings colour-washed blooms in joyful swirls of yellow, orange and pink that light up modest British plots with an impressionist touch. Compact and naturally bushy, it fits neatly into front gardens and narrow borders, creating structure without overwhelming small spaces. Its remontant, generously repeating flowering keeps beds lively from early summer well into autumn, especially when you simply deadhead the most visible spent clusters. The medium citrus-and-spice fragrance is noticeable without being overpowering, ideal beside a path or seating area. As an own-root plant it forms a durable, well-anchored framework that quietly supports a long ornamental lifespan with less worry in windy, exposed or coastal-prone gardens where sturdiness matters. With moderate maintenance – routine watering in dry spells and occasional pest checks – it rewards even beginners with dependable performance. Its upright, balanced habit makes beds and low hedging easy to plan, and in larger containers of at least 40–50 litres it settles into a stable, low-fuss feature that matures from root-building through shoot growth into full garden presence over its first three years.

Usage options

Target area Reasoning
Front garden feature shrub The compact, upright habit fits the scale of typical British front gardens, offering tidy structure without blocking windows or paths. Repeating painterly blooms give a welcoming look with only moderate upkeep – ideal for the style-conscious homeowner.
Small mixed bed or border Its bushy, moderately dense foliage and 70–100 cm height help knit together perennials and other roses, while the streaked yellow-pink flowers provide contrast. Occasional deadheading and watering in dry spells keep it performing well for the relaxed gardener.
Low informal hedge Planted at about 50 cm centres, the upright, bushy shape forms a colourful, low screening line. Repeat flowering gives intermittent coverage through the season, suiting those wanting gentle division of space without formal clipping – a good choice for the practical family.
Colour-focus bedding groups In groups of 3–5 at around 60 cm spacing, its marbled blooms create a strong colour block that still feels soft and cottage-like. Own-root growth gives a coherent, long-lived stand that gradually settles into place, reassuring the long-term planning buyer.
Patio container (large pot) In a 40–50 litre or larger container, the modest height and bushy form give a balanced, showy patio plant. Regular watering and feeding are easy to manage near the house, making this a manageable project for the busy urban gardener.
Cutting for casual indoor arrangements Medium, cup-shaped blooms with distinctive yellow-pink striping and a citrus-cinnamon scent make attractive short-stem vase material. Clustered stems provide several blooms per cut, suiting informal jugs or small table centres for the creatively minded beginner.
Cottage-style combinations with perennials The soft height and bushiness mix well with airy perennials such as calamint or blue globe thistle, while the variegated petals echo traditional cottage borders. A stable own-root framework underpins this relaxed look for the cottage-garden enthusiast.
Exposed or breezy family plots The well-anchored, own-root shrub structure copes steadily where winds can rock taller roses, suiting modestly exposed, everyday gardens that still want reliable summer colour in changeable coastal-influenced weather for the practical front-garden owner.

Styling ideas

  • COTTAGE STRIPE – Plant in threes with catmint and calamint to echo the streaked yellow-pink flowers, creating a soft-edged, nostalgic border – ideal for cottage-garden lovers.
  • ARTIST’S FOCUS – Use a single shrub near the front path with neutral paving and a simple box edging so the painterly blooms become the focal highlight – suited to design-conscious beginners.
  • SUNNY BORDER – Combine with blue globe thistle and other cool-toned perennials to balance the warm yellow-orange-pink tones, giving depth without fuss – good for low-maintenance planners.
  • PATIO GALLERY – Grow in a 50-litre terracotta pot with fine-textured silver foliage at the base to frame the marbled flowers – perfect for small-plot or balcony owners.
  • SOFT HEDGELINE – Line a short garden path at 50 cm intervals, underplanting with low herbs to create a fragrant, informal guide to the front door – appealing to family homes.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”; it illustrates the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root cultivation in a tangible way: how the plant is built up, what the root system is like and how the shoot system regenerates. The recordings were therefore made at different times and with plants at various stages of development, so mixed foliage levels and differing stages of growth may appear in the videos. They are not a ‘sample’ of the batch dispatched, but a visual explanation of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical for the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown in the upper part of the product page.
