MUIDEN™ – mid-pink bedding floribunda rose – Olesen & Olesen
This mid-pink Castle® floribunda brings reliable colour and classic charm to everyday gardens, forming a bushy, wide-spreading shrub that fits naturally into small beds, front gardens and cottage-style borders. Its cluster-flowered, cup-shaped blooms repeat generously through the season, so once established you can enjoy flowering with only straightforward care tasks and simple yearly pruning. Own-root planting supports long-term stability and regeneration, helping the rose settle into local soil and climate for a long life with balanced growth. In a typical family setting it copes well with British showers and breezier days near the coast by benefiting from soils that do not stay waterlogged, offering reassuring resilience even where drainage needs attention. The medium-strength fragrance adds gentle perfume around seating areas and paths, while the compact 70–100 cm height keeps the effect tidy and well-shaped. In larger containers of at least 40–50 litres it provides versatile terrace and doorstep impact, and with good moisture and feeding you see roots first, then stronger shoots, and by the third year a fully developed, dependable display.

Reasoning
Front garden bed by the path
The bushy, wide-spreading habit and 70–100 cm height form an orderly yet generous presence along paths and drives, giving regular mid-pink colour with minimal shaping. Easy annual pruning keeps it neat for years, reassuring the beginner.
Small cottage-style mixed border
Cluster-flowered, cup-shaped blooms repeat through the season, weaving mid-pink clusters among perennials for continuous cottage-garden interest without complex deadheading routines. This reliable floribunda habit suits the time-poor.
Low-maintenance family flowerbed
Strong general disease resistance, with good tolerance to common problems, supports healthy foliage and sustained flowering using simple, occasional plant protection when needed, easing worries for the busy.
Own-root long-term rose area
As an own-root shrub it develops its natural shape in situ, gradually forming a balanced, regenerating framework that remains ornamental for many seasons, making it a sound structural choice for the planner.
Terrace or patio container (40–50 litres)
Its compact height and spreading form suit a large container, where the plant quickly fills space with foliage and blooms, creating an attractive focal point on terraces and patios that rewards the urbanite.
Small group planting (3–5 plants)
Planting in loose groups allows the harmonious pink colouring and uniform habit to knit together into an easy, border-style block of colour, giving a composed effect with little effort for the stylist.
Sunny, well-drained clay or chalky border
Best in full sun and, once established, tolerating moderate dry spells with regular watering, it suits well-prepared heavy or chalky soils that do not stay waterlogged, giving confidence to the practical.
Perfumed seating or doorway area
The fresh, wild-rose fragrance at medium strength creates a noticeable but not overpowering scent near benches or front doors, while repeat clusters maintain visual interest throughout the season, pleasing the senses-focused.
Styling ideas
Cottage-Ribbon – run a loose ribbon of MUIDEN™ along a path with Achillea and Echinacea for relaxed, repeating colour – ideal for lovers of informal cottage borders.
Pink-Parterre – set out a small geometric bed at 65 cm spacing for a clipped, traditional look that still feels soft – well suited to front-garden formalists.
Terrace-Focus – plant one shrub in a 50‑litre pot flanked by low Euonymus for year-round structure and summer perfume – perfect for balcony and patio owners.
Pastel-Drift – mix three to five plants with pale perennials to create a pastel “drift” that reads as one gentle block of colour – attractive for harmony-seeking gardeners.
Family-Edge – use as a low edging row around a play lawn, keeping growth tidy yet colourful and easy to look after – designed for busy family households.
Technical cultivar profile
Characteristic
Data
Name and registration
Floribunda shrub in the Castle® collection; registered as POUlcas071, marketed as Muiden™ Castle® POUlcas071, a bedding floribunda rose intended for beds, borders and general garden use.
Origin and breeding
Bred in Denmark in 2021 by L. Pernille and Mogens Nyegaard Olesen, Poulsen Roser A/S; introduced to the market in 2025 by Poulsen Roser A/S as a modern garden floribunda.
Growth and structural characteristics
Bushy, wide-spreading habit reaching about 70–100 cm high and 75–110 cm wide, with moderately dense, slightly glossy medium-green foliage and moderate prickliness, forming a full shrub shape over time.
Flower morphology
Medium-sized, double, cup-shaped blooms with 26–39 petals, freely borne in clusters; remontant habit provides multiple flushes with a notably abundant second flush when well watered and fed.
Colour data and phenology
Medium pink (RHS 62A–62B) with very good colour retention; flowers open vivid mid-pink, then soften to a pastel mid-pink as they age, creating gentle tonal variation from bud to fading bloom.
Fragrance and aroma
Medium-strength scent with a fresh, wild-rose character; noticeable at close range around paths and seating, adding an extra sensory layer without dominating nearby plants or outdoor spaces.
Hip characteristics
Hip formation is uncommon; when present, hips are very small, typically under 6 mm diameter, so ornamental effect is focused on flowers and foliage rather than autumn fruit display.
Resistance and winter hardiness
Hardy to about –21 to –18 °C (RHS H7, USDA 6b, Swedish Zone 3); good overall disease resistance with strong tolerance to mildew, resistance to rust and moderate black spot resistance.
Horticultural recommendations
Best in sunny positions with regular watering in hot spells; suited to beds, edging and large containers, planted at 55–100 cm spacing depending on use, with moderate maintenance and occasional plant protection.
MUIDEN™ offers harmonious mid-pink clusters, a compact, easy-care shrub form and long-lived own-root reliability, making it a thoughtful choice for those planning a quietly dependable garden feature.
Newly Opened Flower:
The petal edges are vivid medium pink, while the petal centres are a paler pink.
Full Bloom:
Uniform mid-pink surface with the central zone slightly lightening.
Before Fading:
The colour fades to a pale mid-pink with a delicate pastel pink hue.
Colour Fading Description:
During opening the mid‑pink shade moderately fades: at full bloom it is a uniform mid‑pink, becoming a delicate pastel pink before the end of flowering.
Pollinator Attraction:
Because its flowers are fully double, with the stamens largely inaccessible, it is of low attractiveness to pollinating insects.
Pollinator-Friendly Rating:
Double-flowered variety, pollinator-friendliness limited: the concealed stamens make it only mildly attractive to pollinators.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”; it illustrates the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root cultivation in a tangible way: how the plant is built up, what the root system is like and how the shoot system regenerates. The recordings were therefore made at different times and with plants at various stages of development, so mixed foliage levels and differing stages of growth may appear in the videos. They are not a ‘sample’ of the batch dispatched, but a visual explanation of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical for the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown in the upper part of the product page.
