Amandine Chanel™ Générosa® – romantic pink nostalgia shrub rose
Romantic rosettes of strawberry-pink blooms give Amandine Chanel™ a charming cottage feel, ideal for small British front gardens where you want reliable flowering without specialist skills. This bushy, medium-height shrub builds a dense, well-leaved structure that fits neatly into beds and borders, coping well even in breezier spots where good anchoring in the soil matters. Remontant clusters bring an abundant second wave of colour through summer, while the mild, fruity fragrance remains pleasantly understated near paths and windows. As an own-root plant, it settles steadily, giving long-term longevity and the ability to regenerate from the base, suiting low-chemical, family-focused gardens. You can expect roots to establish in year one, stronger shoots in year two and full impact by about the third season.

Reasoning
Front garden focal shrub
The bushy 85–115 cm habit forms a tidy, upright presence that sits comfortably beneath windows yet has enough height to be noticed from the pavement. Its romantic, strawberry-pink rosettes read beautifully against brick or painted house fronts, offering classic charm without needing complex pruning, ideal for a low-effort statement for the style-conscious beginner
Small mixed border with perennials
Dense mid-green foliage and medium spread allow it to weave naturally among cottage plants such as lupins and low gypsophila, giving a soft, layered effect. The medium maintenance requirement and solid winter hardiness suit ordinary family borders where time and attention vary week by week, providing dependable structure and repeat bloom for the busy home gardener
Romantic nostalgia rose bed
The compact size, double rosette flowers and nostalgic character make it easy to group 3–5 plants for a rich, traditional effect without overwhelming smaller gardens. With medium disease resistance, straightforward care and an own-root base that matures steadily, it repays simple routines over many seasons for the heritage-rose enthusiast
Low-chemical family garden planting
Medium disease tolerance and good hardiness mean that, in average conditions, it can be maintained with limited plant protection, particularly when given reasonable air flow and feeding. As an own-root shrub, it recovers more reliably from any setbacks, making it a sensible choice where children and pets share the space and where you prefer minimal spraying for the health-conscious homeowner
Long-lived structural feature in small beds
The sturdy, well-branched framework and moderate spread create a lasting “anchor plant” in compact beds, providing shape even when not in flower. Own-root growth helps it adapt to local soil and care, building a stable, balanced bush that remains decorative over many years with simple annual pruning, suiting the plan-ahead gardener
Season-long colour with repeat flowering
Remontant flowering with an abundant second flush keeps colour flowing through the main garden season, filling gaps after early perennials fade. Clusters of medium-sized blooms ensure that even short bursts of sunshine are rewarded with new flowers, backing up the idea of planting once and enjoying repeated displays for the colour-focused owner
Around-the-house ornamental border
The mild, fresh-fruity scent adds a gentle note by paths and seating without overwhelming small outdoor spaces or open windows. Medium height and thorniness make it manageable near everyday routes, while its steady growth and reliable hardiness are well suited to typical British conditions with changeable winds and rain for the comfort-seeking resident
Large decorative container (40–50 L+)
In a generous 40–50 litre pot with good drainage, its bushy habit and cluster-flowering rosettes create a movable feature for patios or front doors. The own-root system anchors well in the compost and, with regular watering during dry spells, responds with strong top growth, suiting those who want flexible layout options and manageable care for the urban balcony-gardener

Data
Name and registration
Romantic shrub rose from the Générosa collection, registered as MASamcha, marketed as Amandine Chanel™ Générosa®. Classified as a nostalgia rose in the Romantic rose group.
Origin and breeding
Bred in France by Dominique Massad for Guillot, with breeding completed in 2004. Parentage is not recorded; introduced to the market by Guillot as a garden and bed shrub.
Growth and structural characteristics
Bushy, well-branched shrub reaching about 85–115 cm in height and 60–80 cm in spread. Mid-green, matt foliage gives dense cover; moderately thorny shoots support good garden presence.
Flower morphology
Medium-sized, double rosette blooms with approximately 26–39 petals, carried mainly in clusters. Remontant flowering with a notably abundant second flush during the main season.
Colour data and phenology
Strawberry-pink flowers, deep in bud, opening to warm mid-pink rosettes, then fading to pastel pink with a slight silvery sheen at the petal edges as the bloom matures.
Fragrance and aroma
Fragrance is mild but noticeable at close range, with a fresh, fruity character. Well suited to paths and seating areas where a gentle, unobtrusive scent is preferred.
Hip characteristics
Rose hip set is generally sparse due to the double flowers, though occasional small, spherical orange-red hips around 7–9 mm in diameter may appear towards the end of the season.
Resistance and winter hardiness
Hardy to approximately −21 to −18 °C (RHS H7, roughly USDA 6b). Shows medium resistance to black spot, powdery mildew and rust; moderate drought tolerance if watered in prolonged dry spells.
Horticultural recommendations
Best in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Space 50–90 cm depending on use; medium maintenance with occasional plant protection and annual pruning to renew flowering wood.
Amandine Chanel™ Générosa® offers romantic repeat-flowering colour, a bushy, long-lived own-root shrub habit and relatively low chemical needs; consider it if you want a dependable nostalgic rose that will quietly mature with your garden.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”; it illustrates the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root cultivation in a tangible way: how the plant is built up, what the root system is like and how the shoot system regenerates. The recordings were therefore made at different times and with plants at various stages of development, so mixed foliage levels and differing stages of growth may appear in the videos. They are not a ‘sample’ of the batch dispatched, but a visual explanation of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical for the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown in the upper part of the product page.
