Dr Túri Istvánné (Molnár Éva Anna), Évike, Éva Néni, our Mother, passed away on 31 August 2012.
She was born on 28 February 1938 in Lengyeltóti, a settlement in Somogy county. She spent most of her childhood there; in her memories it always represented an idyll, a time of happy, carefree life. The political upheavals after the war brought much bitterness to her and her parents. At the age of 21 she came to Pest, to the Soroksár Experimental Facility of the University of Horticulture, where her love of plants and her exceptionally good organisational skills were soon noticed.
After completing the horticultural technical school, she was entrusted with complex, practical experimental tasks, which she always carried out with great precision, with the help of her team of the time. From the early 1970s she began cultivating roses as a sideline at home. Using traditional bare-root cultivation technology, over a long period of time she and her husband jointly developed potted rose cultivation. Its advantages were an exceptionally good rooting rate and the assurance of varietal authenticity.
After the change of regime, the small household garden developed into a business which, in addition to potted rose production, also included other annual and perennial plants. From the late 1990s, through her work and perseverance, she laid the foundations for the current achievements of PharmaRosa Kft.
As a Mother she is unforgettable.
